  • About Nakki Lake
  • One of the most popular attractions in Mount Abu,Nakki Lake is an ancient and sacred lake. According to Hindu mythology the lake was dug out by the Gods by simply using their nails to gain shelter from the Demon Banshkhali, however many such mythological stories exist leading to the creation of this lake. Nevertheless, the place is a great spot for picnic with friends and family alike. The lake is also famous as Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed here leading to the construction of Gandhi Ghat, which is also a popular monument located here. There are plenty of hotels, restaurants and eateries located near the lake which offer some great local food at really cheap prices. The fountains in the lake add to its natural beauty.

Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple in Rajasthan, India is a very ancient temple, in existence circa the 9th century, and is dedicated to the worship of the Hindu God Shiva. It is located just outside the premises of the Achaleshwar Fort, and it is widely believed that the architectural plan included it within. Popular myth has it that the temple was built surrounding a giant toe-print of the Lord Shiva, and there are statues of bulls (the carrier of Lord Shiva), filigree work and actual Shiva-lingas inside the temple. It had suffered heavily because of lack of adequate maintenance, but revival work has been underway and has done a lot of improvement. This temple can be visited from the only peak here, Mount Abu.

3.Peace Park

A perfect blend of tranquility & serenity
Had visited the peaceful park in Mount Abu a long back ago. This park is located on the Guru Shikhar road and is a popular tourist attraction.

This park is built, maintained and managed by the Brahma Kumari Foundation. It offers a scenic garden with many plant species as well as spiritual teachings. This park is a part of the Brahma Kumaris spiritual establishment. It is visited by thousands of tourists every year. There is an Om sign on a small structure in this park. Earlier, photography was allowed. Now, photography is not allowed. There was no entry fee. Had admired this park and did a bit of meditation as a school going child. It was so serene & peaceful.

This park is an ideal place for families as well as those who want a relaxed peace of mind. It is a must visit and should not be missed while in Mount Abu.
